'TEKA NOVA' OWNERS DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

TERRY BAVERSTOCK

I started my working life as a Cadet and then as a Deck Officer with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. Qualifications gained. Second Mates Foreign Going Certificate, Radar Observers Certificate, plus other seamanship certificates. Eleven years followed as a pilot in the Royal Air Force and then 25 years with Monarch Airlines.

In boating/sailing terms, I owned a 27' power boat for four years, and have sailed with the BA Yacht Club for a number of years. I spent two years on the Committee of the Club during which time I started the RYA Practical Course training program and wrote the initial Sailing Orders for the Club.

Sailing qualifications are as follows: 

  • RYA Offshore Yachtmaster Practical Certificate

  • RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased Certificate

  • Commercial Endorsement

  • RYA Ocean Yachtmasters Certificate 

  • RYA Yachtmaster Instructor

  • VHF/DSC Short  Range Certificate

  • First Aid Certificate

  • RYA Diesel Engine Course Completion Certificate

 I have completed several passages of 600 miles plus, and also took part in the ARC 2002

 

CHRISTINE JARVIS

 I worked for British Caledonian and subsequently British Airways in Engineering and Cargo Operations Management. My current position is with British Airways World Cargo as a Global Account Development Executive. I have been a member of the BAYC for almost five years.

 Sailing qualifications are as follows:

  •  RYA Competent Crew

  • RYA Day Skipper Shorebased Certicate

  • RYA Day Skipper Practical Certificate

  • RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased Certificate

  • VHF/DSC Short Range Certificate

  • RYA Diesel Engine Course Completion Certificate

 I have completed passages in bringing 'Teka Nova' from Croatia to Portugal including solo Watchkeeping and Skippering of legs on passage.
