'TEKA NOVA' OWNERS DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS
I started my working life as a Cadet and then as a Deck Officer with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. Qualifications gained – Second Mates Foreign Going Certificate, Radar Observers Certificate, plus other seamanship certificates. Eleven years followed as a Pilot in the Royal Air Force and then 25 years as a Pilot with Monarch Airlines. In boating/sailing terms, I owned a 27' power boat for four years, and have sailed with the British Airways Yacht Club for a number of years. I spent two years on the Committee of the club during which time I started the RYA Practical Course training program and wrote the initial Sailing Orders for the Club. Sailing qualifications are as follows:- RYA Offshore Yachtmaster Practical Certificate RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased Certificate Commercial Endorsement RYA Ocean Yachtmaster Certificate RYA Yachtmaster Instructor VHF/DSC Short Range Certificate First Aid Certificate RYA Diesel Engine Course Completion Certificate I have completed several passages of 600 miles plus, with crew and several passages between 600 & 4,500 miles double handed with Christine Jarvis. CHRISTINE JARVIS I worked for British Caledonian and subsequently British Airways in Engineering and Cargo Operations Management. My last position with British Airways World Cargo was as a Global Account Development Executive. I had been a member of the British Airways Yacht Club for several years.
