GENERAL
DESCRIPTION: 'Teka Nova' (originally named 'Wella Nova') was
completed in April 1998, built in Finland by a small shipyard specialising in
steel yachts under the supervision of the original owner to a basic designed
contracted from PO Blomquist a well known designer of such yachts. She is a
cutter rigged ketch built of high quality Finnish steel throughout. She was
designed to be a strong ocean going yacht capable of completing a
circumnavigation. After initial trials she completed a full circumnavigation
between 1999 and 2002. The systems and general design of the interior
were planned with the capabilities (and complications)
contained in a small ship. Each system comprehensively backed up from
automatics down to manual controls. VESSEL
HISTORY: Following
her circumnavigation
her owner a former Finnish Merchant Navy Captain decided at age
70 to retire form active sailing and put the vessel up for sale. The
current owner purchased her in July 2003 in Trieste, Italy. She was based in
Croatia for one year at Bunamarine, Pula Croatia. Prior to her passage to the UK
she underwent a refit at Heliyachts Shipyard in Pula Croatia. In August 2004 she was sailed from Pula Croatia, via Brindisi, Cagliari
in Sicily, Majorca, Ibizia and Cartaghena in Spain, Gibraltar, then Portugal,
Northern Spain, and then direct to Littlehampton in the UK where she arrived in
November 2004. She was then taken ashore into David Hillyards Shipyard for a
major refit. After sixteen months in refit she was relaunched in March 2006. As part of the refit her keel was deepened and so on relaunch she
underwent a full incline test and stability booklet production for compliance
with the MCA Recreational Craft Directive for categorisation. These tests were
completed by the owner of Internation Power Boat and Yacht Design Limited,
Stuart Roy, the current stability consultant to the RYA. DIMENSIONS: LOA
